Brazilian Butt Lift NYC

What is a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL)?

The NYC Brazilian butt lift by Dr. David Shokrian is innovative as it results in beautiful natural results without using silicone implants. There are two procedures that are combined for a Brazilian butt lift. Liposuction is first performed to remove fat for injection into the buttocks. Fat is frequently taken from the hip, upper and lower abdomen, bra roll area, and love handles area. The fat is then put into the buttock or hip area for the patient’s desired area. Fat is commonly harvested from the sides and abdomen to create a slimmer waistline that complements the more youthful, curvier buttocks. The Brazilian butt lift aims to eliminate the loose skin and fill in the areas that are sunken in. This can also result in an hourglass shape and more contoured buttocks. Dr. David Shokrian has done thousands of butt lifts, and knows that each and every one of his patients are different and makes sure that he sculpts and contours so each patient is satisfied. In 2015 it was the “Year of the Rear”

The Procedure

Your start to a NYC Brazilian butt lift is fully performed in our fully accredited surgical center. Dr. David Shokrian’s Brazilian Butt Lift NYC procedure is completed under local or general anesthesia and comprises two steps: liposuction and fat grafting. In order to be eligible candidates for the procedure, patients must have pockets of fat located elsewhere in the body that can provide the donor fat necessary to augment the buttocks. Common donor sites include the abdomen, sides, thighs and back. Because the Brazilian butt lift requires liposuction prior, patients will see a difference immediately following the procedure.

The Brazilian butt lift results last longer because it uses real fat cells and it will develop its own blood supply and stay a part of the buttocks. Because we use the fat cells directly from the patient, there is less of a risk for it to be rejected from the body.

Once there is an adequate amount of fat has been removed and purified, Dr. Shokrian will proceed with the fat transfer, and gradually inject it into the buttocks to add volume. The fat will be injected at multiple sites and angles to create an even shape and accurate symmetry.

After Dr. David Shokrian has created the ideal proportions and finished shaping the buttocks, the incisions will be sutured shut, and the affected areas of the patient’s body will be wrapped in compression garments.

Brazilian Butt Lift Recovery

Following a BBL procedure or buttock augmentation, patients should expect to spend two to three weeks recovering before resuming most of their normal activities. Direct pressure on the buttocks can kill the transplanted fat cells and harm results, so patients will need to avoid sitting down and sleeping on their backs for two to three weeks. Patients that are recovering need to be extremely careful and maintain good practice of a good recovery. The transplanted fat cells need time to develop a blood supply.

Compression garments will need to be worn for at least two to three weeks to help minimize swelling and facilitate a quicker recovery. Any non-dissolvable sutures or surgical drains will be removed in seven to 10 days.

We recommend that a family member or friend can stay with you for the first few days of your recovery, as your movements will be limited and no heavy lifting is recommended. Patients are strongly recommended to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated, get rest, and avoid sitting directly on your buttocks for the first 3-4 weeks. We also recommend sleeping on your stomach or sides to not disturb the fat cells.

Results will be immediately visible for both the body contouring effects of the liposuction and the added volume of buttocks augmentation. Swelling will distort the patient’s new proportions, however, for up to six months. Results will continue to develop as the body accepts the fat grafts and absorbs any excess fat and fluids. Final results are typically visible in three to four months.

Illegal Butt Lift Shots

Illegal butt shots have been on the rise in the black market. They are not FDA approved and are much cheaper alternatives to surgical procedures. The irony is that the lower fees come at a higher cost. Polymer butt injections are unsafe and can travel to other parts of the body which can lead to lumps called granulomas, injections, and disfigurement. There have been many cases of death because the inexperienced injectors may inject the harmful substance into blood vessels that can travel to your heart. These injections are normally done in unsterile environments and use nonmedical grade silicone. Some of the most common types of illegal butt injections are made of silicone sealants found in household construction. If you or someone you know has had these illegal injections, Dr. David Shokrian can remove them. It is imperative to remove these harmful substances before they cause serious medical injuries.

Q&A with Dr.Shokrian

Is a Brazilian butt lift painful?

The procedure is not painful, and the discomfort can be managed with the pain medications that are prescribed. Dr. David Shokrian also uses an anesthetic for more comfort. After your NYC butt lift, you will have temporary bruising and swelling but the postoperative massages will help the recovery process go smoother.

How long do results from a BBL last?

Results will mostly stabilize about three months after the procedure, at which point any transplanted fat still present in the buttocks will remain. Patients will need to maintain a stable body weight following their procedure to preserve their new proportions. Liposuction directly removes fat from the targeted areas, but it does not prevent new fat cells from developing because of an unhealthy lifestyle. About 30% of the fat

How much of the added fat will be absorbed by the body?

During liposuction, about three to four times the amount of fat needed will be removed. The purification process will affect the amount of usable fat, as only the highest quality fat that provides the best chance at a successful graft will be chosen. Around 50 to 80 percent of the transplanted fat will receive a proper blood supply and remain after three months, while the body will safely absorb any excess fat. To compensate for this expected fat loss, we will add extra volume to anticipate any shrinkage that occurs over the first few months.

Will I have noticeable scars after the procedure?

Liposuction uses tiny incisions to allow for insertion of the cannula. You should expect to have some minimal scars, although they will be less than a quarter inch and mostly unnoticeable. Any scarring will continue to mature and fade for 12 to 18 months, at which point they will become very thin and white.

Who is a good candidate for a BBL?

A Brazilian butt lift is an excellent procedure for both men and women interested in slimming down their figure and adding shape and volume to their buttocks. Liposuction is a fat loss procedure, not weight loss surgery, and is intended to be used as a last resort for patients who have seen unsuccessful results from a healthy diet and regular exercise. It is a good procedure for anyone that wishes to have fuller buttocks or hips. It is also a good procedure for those interested in enhancing their body figure and adding youthful volume to your buttocks in the NYC area.

Will a BBL address sagging skin?

Patients with sagging or loose skin are not good candidates for liposuction and therefore a BBL. Fat loss can exacerbate loose skin, so we will verify the elasticity of your skin is sufficient before moving forward with the procedure. If you do have loose skin, you may need a procedure such as a tummy tuck or a mini tummy tuck. Dr. David Shokrian will address this during your initial consultation.

How long before I can exercise again?

Most patients can resume their normal activities after three weeks, but some may find they need more time before they feel comfortable returning to exercise and more strenuous activities.

How soon after the procedure can I go swimming or take a shower?

You will need to wait 48 hours before removing your compression dressings and getting your incision sites wet. Most patients can swim or take a bath around one month following their procedure.

How long does a Brazilian Butt Lift take?

The procedure takes about 2-3 hours. It is different for each patient, as a Brazilian butt lift is a highly customizable procedure that can vary depending on the amount of liposuction the patient would like to be done and how much volume they want to be added to their buttocks. Patients will stay in our recovery room for about an hour or two until they are ready to be discharged.

Can I get other procedures done at the same time?

Yes! Some patients choose to also get breast augmentations, breast lifts, lipotucks, and tummy tucks. Your patient care coordinator will talk more in depth with you during your consultation to explain all of your options.
