    What is a Skinny BBL?

A Skinny BBL is a cosmetic procedure that enhances the shape of buttocks in individuals with a slim or athletic build. It is a variation of the Brazilian Butt Lift, specifically designed for individuals with lower body fat, who struggle to achieve curves naturally.

In a traditional BBL, a surgeon removes fat from areas such as the abdomen, thighs, or flanks and transfers it to the buttocks. With a skinny BBL, since the patient has less available fat, the procedure requires precise liposuction and careful fat transfers to create an elegant, seamless enhancement.

Rather than focusing on volume, a Skinny BBL emphasizes precision and proportion. The goal is to create smooth, natural transitions between the waist and hips, resulting in gentle curves and a more balanced silhouette. One of the key advantages of this procedure is that it uses your own body fat rather than implants.

At Millennial Plastic Surgery, we help you achieve naturally rounded, well-formed buttocks, even if you have a thin or athletic physique. Our experienced surgeons tailor each procedure to your unique body and aesthetic goals, delivering results that beautifully enhance your overall figure.

We Create a Naturally Enhanced Shape & Appearance with Subtle, Beautiful Results Through a Skinny BBL

Why Should You Consider a Skinny BBL?

If you are petite or have a limited amount of body fat, you may not be a good candidate for a traditional BBL due to insufficient fat to transfer. Achieving an hourglass figure can be challenging in such cases. However, a skinny BBL can help create a naturally rounded and shapely appearance without excessive volume.

You may consider a skinny BBL if:

    • You have a flat butt, dipped hips, and minimal natural curve between the waist and backside.
    • You seek noticeable yet natural improvement in your rear end and an overall better outline.
    • You have tried diet and exercise, but they failed to give you the butt enhancement you want.
    • You want even, toned body proportions and filled-out hips for a curvy figure.
    • You don’t like the way clothes hang on your body.
    • You seek a confidence boost that comes from accentuated body contours.

A skinny BBL enhances the structure and size of your buttocks and hips by providing rounding and sculpting, which helps you achieve a more proportional figure.

How Is a Skinny BBL Different From a Brazilian Butt Lift?

While both a Skinny BBL and a traditional Brazilian Butt Lift enhance the shape and contour of the buttocks using your own fat through liposuction and fat transfer, they differ in terms of patient suitability, the amount of fat used, and the overall results.

Compared to a BBL, a skinny Brazilian Butt Lift takes a more refined, tailored approach, designed for patients with lower body fat percentages.

In a Brazilian butt lift, the surgeon performs liposuction to remove unwanted fat from the abdomen, thighs, and love handles. This fat is relocated to the butt area to improve its appearance and profile.

A skinny BBL is performed the same way, but there are several differences:

    • Less total fat is harvested
A traditional BBL is best suited for individuals with moderate to higher body fat, which allows larger volumes of fat to be harvested and transferred easily. This results in a significant increase in butt size and projection.

In contrast, a skinny BBL is designed for individuals with thin body type. This means a smaller amount of fat is harvested and carefully injected to achieve subtle, natural-looking enhancement.

    • Harvest from multiple locations
In a traditional Brazilian Butt Lift, fat is typically harvested from areas such as the abdomen, flanks, or thighs, where excess fat is readily available.

As skinny BBL is for individuals with slender build, the surgeon extracts smaller amounts of fat from multiple areas, including the inner thighs, outer thighs, waist, arms, and chest, for transfer.

    • Less dramatic results
A traditional Brazilian Butt Lift focuses on harvesting and transferring fat in larger volumes, resulting in a dramatic increase in the shape and size of the buttocks. In contrast, a Skinny BBL is performed on individuals with lean frame and lower fat capacity, resulting in subtler, more natural enhancements with gentle contouring.

Liposuction in a Skinny BBL requires a higher level of precision compared to a traditional BBL procedure. Since there is less body fat available, the surgeon carefully removes and transfers the right amount to gently enhance curves and create natural-looking buttocks that complement your overall figure. With years of experience and advanced expertise in liposuction, Dr. David Shokrian and Dr. Mohamed Elfar understand this balance and deliver sculpted, aesthetically pleasing results.

Is There Any Difference Between Mini BBL and Skinny BBL?

The terms mini BBL and skinny BBL are often used interchangeably, as both are variations of a traditional Brazilian butt lift but involve smaller-scale enhancements. However, the key difference lies in the patient profile and surgical approach, as well as the amount of fat used.

A Mini BBL refers to a procedure that uses a small volume of fat transfer for a modest increase in buttock size and shape. It is most suitable for individuals who already have some body fat and natural curves, but still seek slight augmentation to refine specific areas of the buttocks for a more balanced and proportionate silhouette.

In contrast, a Skinny BBL is designed for individuals with slim or athletic builds and minimal fat stores. Due to a lesser quantity of fat, the surgeon gathers small amounts from multiple areas of the body and focuses on precise contouring rather than a significant increase in volume. It addresses hip dips and improves the waist-to-hip ratio for a harmonious, natural-looking projection.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Skinny Bbl?

A skinny BBL may be the perfect solution for you if you don’t have enough body fat for a traditional Brazilian Butt Lift. Even if you are slim, chances are that you probably still have some fat on your body to be harvested in a liposuction procedure.

Your surgeon will use the Body Mass Index (BMI) method to check your overall body composition and determine if you are a suitable candidate for a skinny BBL. Your BMI should be under 25 to qualify for a skinny BBL, compared to a traditional BBL, which is for people with a BMI between 25 and 30.

Other criteria that make you eligible for a Skinny BBL include:

    • You are in good mental and physical health.
    • You do not have medical conditions that may affect the surgery results, such as a bleeding disorder.
    • You are over 18 years but not more than 50.
    • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding.

A Skinny BBL is ideal for both men and women with a lean build who want a more contoured, balanced silhouette while maintaining a natural-looking appearance rather than adding noticeable volume.

During a personalized consultation, Dr. Shokrian will explain the procedure in detail, including what it involves, and address any questions or concerns you may have. He will review your medical history and discuss your goals and expectations to ensure you clearly understand what to expect and how the procedure can help you attain the best outcomes. In some cases, he may recommend gaining a small amount of weight before the procedure to optimize results.

When You May Not Qualify for a Skinny BBL?

While a Skinny BBL is the ideal solution for individuals with a slender physique who wish to have a more curvaceous appearance, the procedure may not be the most suitable option for everyone.

You may not be a good candidate for skinny BBL if:

    • You don’t have sufficient fat deposits all over your body for harvesting, as this procedure relies on transferring your own fat to enhance the buttocks.
    • You were unable to gain weight before the procedure if your surgeon recommended it.
    • You have poor physical health and suffer from an eating disorder like anorexia.
    • You have unrealistic expectations of what this procedure can do for you.
    • You are a smoker or not willing to stop smoking before and after the procedure, as it can affect healing and fat survival.
    • If your BMI is under 20, you may not qualify for a skinny BBL.

Do not feel discouraged if you are not currently a candidate for a Skinny BBL. Dr. Shokrian may recommend alternative treatments, preparatory steps, or lifestyle adjustments to help you achieve the desired results. With personalized guidance and a tailored treatment plan, you can work towards becoming an ideal candidate while ensuring safe and effective outcomes.

What Happens During a Skinny BBL Procedure?

    • You will be given either a local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia to ensure you remain comfortable and do not feel any pain or discomfort during the procedure.
    • The surgeon will make tiny incisions in targeted areas of the body to perform liposuction. A small, thin device called a cannula is then inserted to carefully harvest fat from multiple locations, such as the waist, thighs, arms, or chest, depending on the availability of fat.
    • The collected fat is purified to ensure only healthy fat cells are used for transfer.
    • This purified fat is now injected into different parts of the buttocks to build volume and reform your butt as desired. The emphasis is on shape rather than size.
    • Once the procedure is complete, the incisions are closed, and compression garments are applied to the treated areas. It helps reduce swelling and allows the transferred fat to settle and conform smoothly to the body’s new contours.
    • You will be moved to a recovery room where you will be monitored by the medical team until you are fully awake from sedation.

A Skinny BBL is an outpatient procedure that usually takes between two to three hours to complete. This means that you can go home the same day once you are stable, feel alert, and ready for a safe discharge. Your surgeon will provide detailed instructions regarding post-operative care to ensure proper healing of your incisions and achieve optimal results.

    Recovery From a Skinny BBL

Recovery from a Skinny BBL can vary from person to person and depends on factors such as the size and location of incisions, the amount of fat transferred, and your body’s natural healing process. It is important to get plenty of rest and consistently care for your treated areas to ensure timely healing and the best possible outcomes.

You may experience mild to moderate pain, along with swelling and bruising, especially during the next few days after the procedure. These effects are normal and will gradually subside over the following weeks. If your procedure included multiple areas of liposuction, you may experience soreness in multiple areas. Wearing compression garments as advised by your surgeon can help reduce swelling, improve contour, and support the healing process.

As your butt will need some time to heal, you will not be able to sit or lie on it for three weeks or longer. It is because the newly repositioned fat cells need time to settle in place and heal, and pressure on your backside can affect the surgical results. You may also notice that your butt looks larger than you were expecting. This is temporary as your body will absorb about half of the transferred fat, and the area will gradually slim down.

Light walking and movement of arms and legs is encouraged soon after surgery to improve circulation and reduce the risk of blood clots. However, you must avoid strenuous exercise, pulling, pushing, or lifting heavy objects for at least 4 to 6 weeks or until cleared by your surgeon. Although you will notice results of your skinny BBL soon after surgery, it will take at least 6 months or more before you can see the final outcome of your surgery as the swelling subsides and the fat stabilizes.

Attending all scheduled follow-up appointments is essential to ensure optimal healing and the best possible outcomes.

How Long Do the Results of a Skinny BBL Last?

The results of a Skinny BBL can last five years or longer, depending on your surgeon’s expertise and skill, as well as how well you care for your buttocks.

You can protect your Skinny BBL and ensure lasting results by:

    • Maintaining a stable weight, as significant fluctuations especially during pregnancy can affect the shape and volume of your buttocks.
    • Focusing on your overall health and wellness.
    • Eating a balanced, nutritious diet that supports fat retention and overall body health.
    • Exercising regularly to maintain a toned and shapely figure.
    • Avoiding prolonged pressure on the treated areas during the early recovery period to allow successful fat transfer and proper settlement.

By strictly following your surgeon’s post-operative care guidelines and making healthy lifestyle choices, you can look forward to preserving your enhanced curves for years to come.

How Much Does a Skinny BBL Cost?

The total cost of a skinny BBL is based on your individual body type, aesthetic goals, and several other factors, such as:

    • The surgeon’s experience and expertise
    • Your geographical location
    • The complexity of the procedure
    • The extent of liposuction needed
    • The amount of fat to be transferred
    • Anesthesia and facility fees
    • Geographic location of the clinic

As each patient has unique needs and expectations, an in-person consultation with your surgeon is essential to determine the exact cost of your procedure. The surgeon will provide a detailed cost estimate based on your personalized treatment plan and specific techniques required to achieve the best possible results.

Is a Skinny BBL Covered by Insurance?

A Skinny BBL is considered an elective cosmetic procedure. This means it is performed to enhance appearance and body contour and does not diagnose, treat, or prevent a medical condition. Due to this, health insurance will not cover it.

However, there are rare exceptions when fat transfer is part of reconstructive surgery to address a functional or structural problem. If you need reconstructive surgery after trauma, were born with congenital or developmental deformities, or need post-surgical reconstructions, your insurance provider may only cover the medically necessary portion of your BBL. You will need proper documentation and prior authorization from your healthcare professional before the procedure can be approved.
