Radiesse NYC

What is Radiesse NYC?

Radiesse is another kind of dermal filler that is used to smooth moderate to severe wrinkles and folds and to correct volume loss in the face. It contains calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres suspended in aqueous water gel. Right after injection, Radiesse immediately adds volume and corrects facial imperfections such as wrinkles and folds, and also stimulates new collagen production in the body. Results are immediate and long-lasting.

This filler is biodegradable and biocompatible, meaning that overtime, the body absorbs the gel and metabolizes the calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres, leaving your natural collagen behind.

What does it do?

Radiesse is one of the thickest dermal fillers on the market. This filler is ideal for augmenting the chin, filling the cheeks, lifting the tip of the nose, and jawline.

Radiesse vs. Other Dermal Fillers

Unlike Juvederm or other dermal fillers, Radiesse is perfect for patients that would like to mainly smooth and fill in severe creases on the face. Most dermal fillers are differentiated by its material and depends on each patient and their desired results for their facial appearance. During the initial consultation, Dr. David Shokrian will explain the dermal fillers we offer in detail and suggest the best dermal fillers for the patient determined by their skin and results they would like to achieve.

Procedure

This procedure is most often performed under local anesthesia. Dr. David Shokrian will first examine the areas of concern that a patient wants to be treated. Afterwards, the doctor will identify with the patient the amount of Radiesse needed for desired results. The Radiesse filler will be injected by a needle beneath the skin, under the dermis and subcutis layer. The procedure can take up to 15 minutes. Patients may experience minimal discomfort from the needle injection. Patients can return to their regular activities or work right after the procedure.

Recovery and Results

Patients may expect minimal swelling and redness immediately after the procedure but will subside within 24 to 36 hours. Patients can also expect bruising and some discomfort. If any discomfort occurs, medication can be prescribed. Patients are advised to stay out of sun exposure, strenuous activities, wearing makeup, and consuming alcohol for at least 24 hours for the best results. The week following procedure, side effects such as swelling and redness should be resolved and desired results should be even more visible. Patients can expect these results to last for up to a year or longer.
