A great way to get your dream booty is to get a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL). But if you’ve been looking into getting your bum done, you have probably heard whispers about the magical ‘Fluff Fairy’ that helps you to get the perfect derrière. If you have no clue what the Fluff Fairy is, don’t worry! We have got you covered.

The Fluff Fairy In Plastic Surgery

We’re here to fill you in on everything you need to know about the fluffing stages after a BBL and clue you in on what to expect. Our article will give you the rundown on how a Brazilian Butt Lift works and how long you can expect to wait before the fluffing stage. We’ll also tell you how you can manage this stage to get the best results possible.

What Is The BBL Fluff Fairy?

If you are looking into getting a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), just thinking about getting one, or you’ve had one done already, you may have heard of the mysterious and mythical ‘Fluff Fairy.’ But who – or what- is the Fluff Fairy?

Well, much like the ‘Tooth Fairy’ that brings you money in exchange for your teeth, the Fluff Fairy brings you a beautiful and voluptuous body after a BBL procedure.

Basically, the Fluff Fairy is just a fun name given to the stages that a patient experiences after surgery.

The BBL Fluff Fairy is also sometimes referred to as the ‘fluffing’ stage or ‘feeding the fat.’

What Is The Brazilian Butt Lift Fluffing Stage?

To understand what happens during the fluffing stages, you first need to have a basic understanding of how the BBL plastic surgery process works.

How Does A BBL Work?

During a Brazilian Butt Lift, fat is liposuctioned away from various parts of the patient’s body – like the hips, waist, or belly – and transferred into their buttocks. After the fat is transferred, it gradually starts to graft to the other tissue in your bum.

For the fat to graft successfully, it needs an adequate supply of blood. As part of the fat removal procedure, your surgeon will remove at least 3 to 4 times the amount needed.

This is because approximately only 65 – 85% of the fat will receive the needed blood supply to attach itself permanently. The fat that doesn’t attach itself is eventually broken down and reabsorbed into the body.

The recovery

During the recovery stages of a BBL, the fat that has been grafted will provide permanent, plump results – giving you the bum you’ve always dreamed of.

For the first few weeks after the surgery, the grafting will cause swelling in the buttocks. The swelling is completely normal and is actually your body’s way of feeding the newly grafted tissue with nutrients and supplying it with cells that will aid in the healing process.

Then, after around two weeks, the swelling should start to lessen, and new blood vessels will begin to grow in the grafted area.

During the first three weeks after a BBL, patients should take care not to put any unnecessary pressure on the buttocks. This is because too much pressure can cause warping and can slow the healing process down considerably.

In order to grow properly, the new blood vessels should remain undisturbed. This means using a BBL pillow or sleeping on your stomach to allow the area to heal and give you the best results possible.

For the first three months after BBL surgery, you’ll probably start to receive compliments about the shape and curve of your new bum. However, when you take your clothes off, you may notice that your bum looks stiff and may not be the round shape you were hoping for.

But don’t panic. This is just the first stage of getting your perfect bum, and following the first three months, you’ll be getting your long overdue visit from the Fluff Fairy!

But what exactly happens when you reach the Fluffing stage after a BBL?

The Fluffing Stage After BBL

Maintaining a healthy body weight is crucial during the healing process. As your body begins to heal, you should try to eat small portions of clean, high-protein foods to ensure you get all the nutrients you need.

You should also avoid ingesting a lot of salt and drinking a lot of alcohol. This could slow your healing process, and your body will almost likely swell as a result of this.

After a BBL, you’ll notice that your skin will stretch out to fit the newly injected or transferred fat. This can happen gradually, and you may find that your skin can feel tight.

You may also notice a slight burning sensation in your buttocks when the fat is first put in. This is just your skin learning to accommodate tissue that wasn’t there before and stretching out to make room for it.

Over time, the skin will expand and fluff itself up to accommodate the newly implanted fat. This period of time is referred to as the BBL ‘fluffing’ stage.

After a little while, you’ll notice your bum will start to feel softer and look more round. This can continue for up to three months. So, after around six months post-BBL, your bum should look naturally rounder and more plump, and you can start to enjoy your brand new booty!
