    What is Breast Augmentation?

Breast augmentation is a cosmetic surgical procedure designed to enhance the size, shape, and symmetry of the breasts. Also called augmentation mammoplasty, it involves placing implants beneath the existing breast tissue or chest muscles, or uses fat transfer, for a fuller, more contoured image.

Over the years, breast augmentation has become one of the most popular cosmetic procedures in the United States, giving patients the freedom to attain the breast appearance they seek.

Breast augmentation can help you achieve:

    • Improved symmetry – Corrects uneven or asymmetrical breasts, giving them the same size, shape, and firmness, while enhancing the balance of your overall contours.
    • Enhanced shape and fullness –  Adds volume to your sagging or drooping breasts, restores youthful elasticity, and creates a natural, redefined visual appeal.
    • Restored volume –  Reclaims breast fullness lost after pregnancy, breastfeeding, or weight changes, so you can wear stylish clothes that flatter your figure.
    • Balanced proportions – Enhances your overall body outline for a more harmonious, proportionate silhouette.
    • Boosted confidence – Makes you feel more comfortable, youthful, and assured in your appearance.

Why Should I Consider Breast Augmentation?

Breast augmentation surgery may help you:

    • Improve the symmetry of your breasts.
    • Add fullness and augment your breasts contour.
    • Increases breast size to match your desired appearance.
    • Restore lost volume after weight loss.
    • Enhance and balance your overall body proportions.
    • Increase firmness after pregnancy and breastfeeding.
    • Reconstruct the breast following cancer surgery or injury.
    • Correct congenital breast conditions.
    • Achieve natural-looking and feeling results over time.
    • Improve your personal image and confidence.

Breast enhancement is ideal for individuals who want their outward appearance to reflect what they feel inside, empowering them to showcase their new look with ease and comfort.

Am I a Good Candidate for Breast Augmentation?

You may be an ideal breast augmentation candidate if:

    • You are at least 18 years old.
    • You are in good overall health.
    • You are a non-smoker or willing to give up smoking to achieve the desired results.
    • You have realistic expectations about the surgery outcomes.
    • You understand the risks and benefits of the procedures.
    • You agree to follow the post-surgery care instructions as provided by your surgeon for optimal healing.

Breast augmentation is a highly personal choice that can help you become a happier, sexier, and more confident version of yourself by improving your breast size, shape, and symmetry. However, a consultation with your surgeon is essential to determine whether it is the ideal solution for you.

How to Сhoose the Кight Breast Implants?

Different types of breast implants are available to suit your individual style and objectives.  Choosing the right type of implant is an essential part of your breast augmentation journey. The ideal option will depend on your body type and your surgeon’s recommendation.

There are several factors to consider when choosing breast implants:

    • Implant type – Breast implants are broadly categorized into two main types: silicone and saline. You can choose the most suitable option based on its benefits, your anatomy, and the results you seek.
    • Implant shape – Round implants provide fuller upper breast volume. Teardrop-shaped implants lead to a more natural slope and contour.
    • Implant size – The size of implants is selected based on your body proportions, chest width, and the look you want.
    • Implant profile – Profiles range from low to high. They determine how far the implant projects from your chest and influence the overall breast form.
    • Placement – Implants can be placed either above or below the chest muscle, depending on your physique and intended outcome.

Dr. Shokrian will carefully assess your needs, guide you through the available options, and help you select implants that complement your anatomy while enhancing your feminine appearance.

If appropriate, he may also recommend additional breast enhancement procedures, such as:

    • Breast Lift (Mastopexy) – A breast lift can raise and reshape the breasts, restoring a more youthful and elevated position.
    • Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation</strong> – This procedure involves removing excess fat from areas such as the abdomen or thighs, using liposuction, and transferring it to the breasts to create a subtle, natural-looking enhancement.

With expert guidance and a personalized plan, you can identify the right implants and procedures to achieve refined body contours. Dr. Shokrian utilizes precise techniques tailored to your chest wall anatomy, tissue characteristics, and implant selection, ensuring optimal results, and long-term satisfaction.

Their experience in feminizing the body with lipo 360 and bbl sold me and it was worth the wait! So so happy I decided to go with Millenial the staff was incredible.

    Types of Breast Implants

Two main types of breast implants are available, each designed to suit different preferences. Your surgeon will explain the benefits of each option and help you choose the one that complements your body, meets your needs, and fulfills your chosen outcome.

    • Silicone implants – They are filled with a cohesive gel that resembles breast tissue. Silicone implants are a popular choice for patients who seek natural softness and appearance.
    • Saline implants – They are filled with sterile salt water and are firmer than silicone implants. Saline implants can be adjusted in size during surgery to achieve the desired volume.

Both types of implants are FDA-approved and built for long-term safety, with a durable silicone shell. While ruptures are rare, saline is safely absorbed by the body, and silicone may require medical evaluation.

What happens during a Breast Augmentation Consultation?

A consultation with one of our expert surgeons, Dr. Shokrian or Dr. Mohamed Elfar, is the first step toward achieving elevated breasts. During this appointment, they ask about your goals, body concerns, and aesthetic preferences to determine whether breast augmentation is the most suitable approach for you.

They will review your medical history, including any medications, assess your overall health and lifestyle, and perform a detailed examination of your chest. They will explain the procedure, breast implants, and the types, sizes, and shapes available to you and recommend the best implants suited to your anatomy and what you should expect before, during, and after the surgery. This ensures you are fully informed to make smart decisions about your health and appearance.

This session is also an opportunity for you to openly discuss your insecurities and expectations from surgery, and ask any questions you may have. With extensive experience in both primary and revision breast augmentation, our surgeons can help you achieve flawless, natural-looking results.

What Happens During Breast Implant Surgery?

    • Depending on the complexity of your surgery, you will receive either local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia. This ensures you are completely relaxed and comfortable throughout the procedure.
    • The surgeon will make a precise incision under each breast, under your arm, or around your nipple, depending on the type of procedure.
    • They will create a pocket behind or in front of your chest muscle to place the breast implants in the most appropriate places.
    • The incisions are carefully closed. The dressings and compression garments are placed to reduce swelling and protect the newly treated area.
    • Once the procedure is complete, you will be moved to a recovery room where you will be monitored by the medical team until you wake up from the anesthesia.

Breast augmentation is usually performed as an outpatient procedure. This means you can return home the same day after your surgery if the surgeon is satisfied with your recovery and overall condition. However, you will need someone to drive you home and stay with you the first night.

    Recovering From Breast Augmentation Surgery

Recovery from breast augmentation surgery varies from patient to patient and depends on factors such as the type of procedure performed, the complexity of the surgery, and your body’s natural healing process. In some cases, the type of implants used may also influence healing and recovery time. Following your surgeon’s post-operative instructions is essential for optimal healing and achieving long-lasting results.

Mild to moderate pain, swelling, bruising, and temporary changes in breast sensation are normal, especially during the first few days after surgery. Some women also experience nerve pain after breast enhancement. It normally consists of tingling or shooting pains around the incision area. These symptoms usually improve within 1 to 2 weeks.

Most patients can return to light daily activities within this time. However, strenuous activities should be avoided for at least 3 to 4 weeks, or until cleared by your surgeon. It is important not to push, pull, or lift heavy objects, as this can strain your incisions and potentially affect implant positioning.

It will take several months for your chest to look completely normal. Don’t be alarmed if your breasts seem misshapen or one appears larger than the other during the early stages of recovery. This is due to swelling and bruising, and your breasts will gradually become more balanced and natural-looking.

Important Considerations About Breast Implant Surgery

Understanding the facts and practical aspects of breast implant surgery is essential. It helps you know what the procedure involves and what kind of outcomes you can realistically expect.

    • Sagging - Breast implants can increase the size and fullness of your breasts, but they do not significantly change how your breasts sit or sag. If you have noticeable sagging, you may need a breast lift, either on its own or combined with implants, to achieve a more lifted and youthful appearance.
    • Durability – Breast implants are not lifetime devices. They may require replacement or revision surgery over time, often after 10–15 years, depending on factors such as aging, implant rupture or infection, changes in sensation, or any complications that may arise.
    • Mammogram – With breast implants, your routine mammograms will require specialized imaging techniques to allow better visualization of the breast tissue.
    • Breastfeeding – Most women can successfully breastfeed with breast implants, but many cannot. It is best to wait until you are done having children before getting breast implants.
    • Screenings - You may need medical tests, such as blood work or an MRI, for health monitoring or a product update.

Breast implant results and their longevity vary, depending on individual anatomy, healing response, and implant selection. It is important to follow Dr. Shokrian’s pre- and post-operative care guidelines so you can fully enjoy the benefits of your newly enhanced, lifted, and well-shaped breasts for years to come, while minimizing the risk of complications.

How Much Does Breast Augmentation Cost?

Breast augmentation is not a one-size-fits-all procedure, so the cost can vary depending on several factors.

Some of the factors that can impact the overall surgery cost can include:

    • Surgeon’s experience and reputation
    • Type of implants – whether you are choosing silicone or saline implants, as they vary in price
    • Facility fees
    • Anesthesia fees
    • Complexity of the procedure
    • Whether you choose to combine breast augmentation with a breast lift or any other procedure
    • Geographical location
    • Compression garments
    • Post-operative care and follow-ups

As each patient’s anatomy and goals are unique, an in-person consultation with your surgeon is essential. During this consultation, Dr. Shokrian will calculate the exact cost of your procedure based on your personalized treatment plan. He understands your desire for a beautifully balanced figure and will recommend the most suitable implant options that fit within your budget.

Is Breast Augmentation Covered by Insurance?

Breast augmentation performed for cosmetic or aesthetic purposes is considered an elective procedure and generally not covered by health insurance. However, breast reconstruction following a mastectomy, injury, or congenital defect may be partially or fully covered, depending on your surgical needs and insurance plan.

Your healthcare provider can help you understand your coverage options and provide the necessary documentation for insurance claims. It is essential to speak with your insurance provider before scheduling surgery to ensure you receive any applicable benefits if the procedure is medically necessary.

At Millennial Plastic Surgery, we know that paying for your breast augmentation procedure can feel overwhelming, especially if you combine it with other procedures for enhanced results. We offer flexible payment plans and third-party financing options that make it easier to achieve the outcome you want, without compromising your budget or peace of mind.
